Frequently asked questions

Free GitHub repository cards, packs, and collections.

Last updated: 2026-10-23

What is RepoVerse?

RepoVerse is a free browser-based collectible card game built around real GitHub repositories. Open five-card packs, discover software projects, and build a collection.

How do I get started?

Open Packs to try a demo, or sign in with Google or GitHub to start keeping cards in your collection. Demo cards do not become owned cards.

How do free packs regenerate?

Start with 10 starter packs. One free pack regenerates every 10 minutes, even offline, until your total available stock reaches 10. Starter gifts and album rewards count toward this supply limit. At 10 or more, supply pauses; spending down to 9 starts a fresh 10-minute timer. Album rewards and already-issued packs are kept. Free packs are used first. Every pack contains five different repositories, with at least one Featured project and one Rare or better card.

What is the difference between rarity and finish?

The six rarities are Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. Base, Foil, and Holo are finishes that can appear on cards of different rarities.

Catalog shares, single-card probabilities, and the chance of finding a rarity in a whole pack are different measures. The Rules page labels each published table and explains the configured slot weights.

What do attack and defense mean?

Attack and defense are normalized from stars, forks, and project age. Attack favors reach and momentum; defense favors community adoption and longevity. Values are frozen with the Genesis snapshot. They describe a collectible, not code quality.

Are repository statistics live?

Repository statistics are dated snapshots, not a live GitHub feed. The latest catalog snapshot is 2026-10-22; an individual card can have an earlier snapshot date. Follow its GitHub source for current project information.

Why is Explore smaller than the full catalog?

Explore shows repository cards already discovered by players across the community, not the complete Genesis catalog. A repository, a finish variant, and an individual owned copy are different things.

How do I showcase my cards?

Collection contains your own cards. On Profile, choose up to 5 cards you have collected for your public showcase. Albums track themed collection progress.

How can I use RepoVerse like a mobile app?

On Android Chrome, use the browser menu to install RepoVerse or add it to the home screen. On iPhone, use Share and Add to Home Screen. Launch the home-screen icon for the standalone experience without browser toolbars. Availability depends on your browser and operating system.

Can I trade cards or play battles?

This edition offers free collecting and showcasing. Player-to-player trading, paid packs, and PvP battles are not currently available.
